Mount Ontake erupts in central Japan

Mount Ontake erupted late Saturday morning, sending a plume of smoke and ash into the sky, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported.
At least three people have been injured, said a task force in Otaki village, just south of the volcano. They have observed 17-20 inches (40-50 centimeters) of volcanic ash covering the ground.
Local authorities said there were roughly 150 hikers in the area at the time, according to the agency, which raised the

The public is advised to not approach the volcano, and police and firefighters have deployed to help hikers near the summit.
About 250 people living near the mountain have decided to remain in their homes, police said.
The volcano last erupted in 2007.
It is located about 155 miles (250 kilometers) west of Tokyo.

Following his successful Hammersmith Apollo gig in 2012, Wizkid took to the stage again to wow his London fans. This time in North Greenwich’s Indigo2.

Smade once again pulled off a one of a kind sold out show. Host, Eddie Kadi kept the crowd laughing as Wizkid fans began to fill the Indigo2 space. Opening act, Sona warmed up the crowd and got them dancing with his breakout hits ‘Ijo Sona’, ‘Omode Yi’ and ‘No Wahala’.

Once the crowd was buzzing it was time for none other than the man the people had all been waiting for to grace the stage. Backed up by The Composers and the D3 Dancers, Wizkid hit the stage with a bang. If there was any question as to what the young superstar was going to perform being that a majority of his hits have come from collaborations over the past year or so, tonight proved that despite this fact the star is a force to be reckoned with.

Wizkid performed a string of his hits from ‘Don’t Dull’, the crowd pleasing ‘No Lele’ and the now classic ‘Tease Me/Bad Guy’, to his latest hits ‘On Top You Matter’ and ‘Jaiye Jaiye’. Wizkid even performed songs from his latest album ‘Ayo’, such as ‘Ojuelegba’ as the crowd sang along to every word.

The show wouldn’t have been complete without his collabos which included ‘Back To The Matter’, ‘Caro’ and ‘Emi Ni Baller’ to which Chidinma,  Maleek Berry and L.A.X respectively joined Wizkid on stage to screams and cheers from the crowd.

Also in attendance tonight were some of the UK’s very own shining stars such as Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, DJ Abrantee and Krept and Konan who joined Wizkid on stage to close out the show with his mega hit single ‘Show You The Money’ as Wizkid so generously sprayed the crowd with $100 bills.

All in all, it was a night not to have been missed. Wizkid showed London that he has come a mighty long way from his ‘Holla at your Boy’ days. Despite the fact that he missed out some hits during the show, with three costume changes and a catalogue of music that had the crowd dancing from beginning to end, it was easy to forget the songs that weren’t performed.

Other Yoruba gods sango Ogun Irunmole........

Ogun / Ògún   Òrìṣà of iron and metallurgy.

Yemoja / Yemọja        Mother of Waters, Nurturer of Water Resources. Wife of the former Oba of Oyo called Ṣàngó (sometimes pronounced Shango; another Yòrùbá Òrìṣà, see below) According to Olorishas, she is the amniotic fluid in the womb of the pregnant woman, as well as the breasts which nurture. She is considered the protective energy of the feminine force.

Oshun / Ọ̀ṣun  A second wife of the former Oba of Oyo called Ṣàngó (another Yoruba Òrìṣà, see below), she is said to have turned into a river in Osogbo. The Yòrùbá clerics ascribed to her Sensuality, Beauty and Gracefulness, symbolizing both their people's search for clarity and a flowing motion. She is associated with several powers, including abilities to heal with cool water, induction of fertility and the control of the feminine essence. Women appeal to her for child-bearing and for the alleviation of female disorders. The Yòrùbá traditions describe her as being fond of babies and her intervention is sought if a baby becomes ill. Ọ̀ṣun is also known for her love of honey.

Shango / Ṣàngó           Associated with Virility, Masculinity, Fire, Lightning, Stones, Warriors and Magnetism. He is said to have the abilities to transform base substances into those that are pure and valuable. He was the Oba of Oyo at some point in its history. He derived his nickname Oba Koso from the tales of his immortality. Ṣàngó is the Òrìṣà of the thunderbolt, said to have ruled in ancient times over the kingdom of Oyo. Also known as Jakuta (Stone Thrower) and as Oba Koso (The King Does Not Hang).

Oya / Ọya        The third wife of the former Oba of Oyo called Ṣàngó (another Yoruba Òrìṣà, see above), she is said to have turned into the River Niger. She is often described as the Tempest, Guardian of the Cemetery, Winds of Change, Storms and Progression. Due to her personal power, she is usually depicted as being in the company of her husband Ṣàngó. Òrìṣà of rebirth.

Irúnmọlẹ̀

Irúnmọlẹ̀ are entities sent by the Supreme (Olódùmarè) to complete given tasks, often acting as liaisons between Orun (the invisible realm) and Aiye (the physical realm). Irúnmọlẹ̀(s) can best be described as ranking divinities; whereby such divinities are regarded as the principal Òrìṣàs.

The Yoruba believe in Àtúnwá, reincarnation within the family. The names Babatunde (father returns), Yetunde (Mother returns), Babatunji (Father wakes once again) and Sotunde (The wise man returns) all offer vivid evidence of the Ifa concept of familial or lineal rebirth. There is no simple guarantee that your grandfather or great uncle will "come back" in the birth of your child, however.

Whenever the time arrives for a spirit to return to Earth (otherwise known as The Marketplace) through the conception of a new life in the direct bloodline of the family, one of the component entities of a person's being returns, while the other remains in Heaven (Ikole Orun). The spirit that returns does so in the form of a Guardian Ori. One's Guardian Ori, which is represented and contained in the crown of the head, represents not only the spirit and energy of one's previous blood relative, but the accumulated wisdom he or she has acquired through a myriad of lifetimes. This is not to be confused with ones spiritual Ori, which contains personal destiny, but instead refers to the coming back to The Marketplace of one's personal blood Ori through one's new life and experiences. The Primary Ancestor (which should be identified in your Itefa) becomes  if you are aware and work with that specific energy  a guide for the individual throughout their lifetime. At the end of that life they return to their identical spirit self and merge into one, taking the additional knowledge gained from their experience with the individual as a form of payment.

Meaning of Èsù / Èṣù

Èsù / Èṣù

Often ill-translated as "The Devil" or "The Evil Being", Èṣù is in truth neither of these. Best referred to as "The Trickster", he deals a hand of misfortune to those that do not offer tribute or are deemed to be spiritual novices. Also regarded as the "divine messenger", a prime negotiator between negative and positive forces in the body and an enforcer of the "law of being". He is said to assist in enhancing the power derived from herbal medicines.

Èṣù is the Òrìṣà of chance, accident and unpredictability. Because he is Olorun's linguist and the master of languages, Èṣù is responsible for carrying messages and sacrifices from humans to the Sky God. Also known for his phallic powers and exploits. Èṣù is said to lurk at gateways, on the highways and at the crossroads, where he introduces chance and accident into the lives of humans. Known by a variety of names, including Elegbara.

Meaning Of Òrìṣà

Òrìṣà

Òrìṣà(also spelled Orisha or Orixa) is an entity that possesses the capability of reflecting some of the manifestations of Olódùmarè. Yòrùbá Òrìṣàs (translated "owners of heads") are often described as intermediaries between man and the supernatural. The term is often translated as "deities" or "divinities".

Òrìṣà(s) are more like "animistic entities" and have control over specific elements in nature, thus being better referred to as the divinities. Even so, there are those of their number that are more akin to ancient heroes and/or sages These are best addressed as dema deities. Even though the term Òrìṣà is often used to describe both classes of divine entities, it is properly reserved for the former one.

Orishas            Attributes

Orunmila / Ọ̀rúnmìlà   The Yorùbá Grand Priest and custodian of the Ifa Oracle, source of knowledge who is believed to oversee the knowledge of the Human Form, Purity, the Cures of illnesses and deformities. His suburdinate priests or followers are the Awos.

The meaning of Olodumare

Olódùmarè

Olódùmarè is the most important "state of existence". Regarded as being all-encompassing, no gender can therefore be assigned. Hence, it is common to hear references to "it" or "they" (although this is meant to address a somewhat singularity) in usual speech. "They" are the owner of all heads, for during human creation, Olódùmarè gave "êmí" (the breath of life) to humankind. In this, Olódùmarè is Supreme.

Perhaps one of the most important human endeavors extolled within the Yoruba literary corpus is the quest to better one's "Iwa" (character, behaviour). In this way the teachings transcends religious doctrine, advising as it does that a person must also better his civic, social and intellectual spheres of being; every stanza of the sacred Ifa oracular poetry (Odu Ifa) has a portion covering the importance of "Iwa". Central to this is the theme of righteousness, both individual and collective.

“Abubakar Shekau” killed Was One Bashir Mohammed

A Nigerian military intelligence source has told SaharaReporters that the top Boko Haram figure killed in a recent operation was one Bashir Mohammed, leader of the Islamist sect’s Uye camp.

Cameroonian authorities yesterday released a photo of a dead man they identified as Abubakar Shekau, the loquacious and attention-seeking leader of the terrorist group that has launched deadly strikes in Nigeria’s northeast zone as well as Cameroon.

The Nigerian intelligence source told SaharaReporters that Nigerian soldiers, not Cameroonian troops, had killed Mr. Bashir last Friday in a fierce battle against Boko Haram insurgents in Konduga, Borno State.

The late Mr. Bashir, who bore a striking resemblance to Abubakar Shekau and had appeared in a recent video, was killed as he led insurgents who were attempting to capture Konduga and then made a bid to seize Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, as well.
Nigerian soldiers routed the Islamist militants in Konduga, killing hundreds of them and capturing weapons as well as vehicles abandoned by fleeing insurgents.

The military as well as Nigerian government-appointed negotiators claim that the original Mr. Shekau had died since last year, reportedly assassinated by his lieutenants

The intelligence source said Mr. Bashir had adopted Mr. Shekau’s nom deguere and had been the person responsible for issuing video messages in recent times.  Even though our source said the military was cautious not to claim credit for Mr. “Shekau’s” death, he added that the Nigerian military was buoyed by the capture of the armored tank usually displayed in the background of recent videos issued by the sect’s spokesman.  Source: Sahara Reporters

(CNN) - Hundreds of people are dead as the worst Ebola virus outbreak in history sweeps through West Africa.
It began as a handful of cases in Guinea in March but quickly spread to neighboring Sierra Leone and Liberia.
Here are nine things to know about what the World Health Organization calls "one of the world's most virulent diseases."

(CNN) - More than 700 infants and 40 health care workers have been exposed to tuberculosis, commonly called TB, at a hospital in El Paso, Texas, according to the city's Department of Public Health.
Health officials are not yet saying if any of the people exposed have tested positive for the disease.
An employee at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso came to work with an active case of TB some time between September 2013 and August 2014. He or she worked with infants in the nursery and in the post-partum unit at the hospital, the health department says.
  • The hospital has identified 706 infants and 43 workers who were exposed to the disease during that time period. The family of each patient was sent a certified letter and is being contacted via telephone with instructions on how to get tested for TB. Any necessary follow-up care will be provided free of charge by the health department and the hospital.
The infected health care worker is no longer working and is receiving treatment, the owner of the hospital, Sierra Providence Health Network, said in a statement.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that generally causes coughing, chest pain and difficulty breathing, according to the Mayo Clinic. An estimated 2 billion people worldwide have what's called latent TB, where the bacteria remain dormant and don't cause symptoms.
"Once in the body, the bacteria usually lay dormant for months or years before they begin to grow and cause a case of active TB," the City of El Paso's Department of Public Health said in a statement. "That is why it is so important to identify people who may have been exposed, screen them, and provide treatment."
The bacteria that cause TB spread through the air when an infected patient coughs or sneezes, but it's not a highly contagious disease; close contact over a longer period of time is required before another person becomes infected, according to the Mayo Clinic. Only active TB can be spread.
The Texas Department of State Health Services conducted an on-site investigation at Providence Memorial Hospital last week and cited the hospital "for deficiencies that represent immediate jeopardy to patient health and safety," said Carrie Williams, the department's director of media relations. Investigators "found serious deficiencies in the areas of infection control, patient rights and governing body."
The Center for Medicare Services has placed the hospital on a termination track, said David Wright, deputy regional administrator for CMS in Dallas. He said CMS is giving the hospital until October 11 to identify policy changes that need to happen to ensure something like this won't happen again. If the hospital fails to do so, its Medicaid and Medicare funding will be cut off.

Nigeria Banned from Eating Ponmo (cow skin)

LIVE! Nigeria to BAN eating PONMO !!! (or cow-skin)

BattaBox LIVE SHOW discusses the Nigerian government proposal to BAN Ponmo !!
Ponmo is cow skin that we Nigerians like to cook and chop (eat!). It is a great delicacy and an important ingredient in the preparation of several stews in various cultures in Nigeria. For example, it is a core component in Edikaikong and efo riro.
But The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, has said it may not be banned: “I am confident that the satisfactory production levels achieved in the poultry and swine segments will soon stretch to reach other commodities such as beef, dairy, micro livestock and animal by-products such as leather, bones, hides and skins.”

The meaning of Dorobucci leaked Out

By DAMILOLA SHOLOLA
No doubts, Dr Sid, born Sidney Onoriode Esiri, is now one of the leading musicians ruling the Nigerian airwaves. A dentist turned songwriter and singer, Sidney hails from Delta State but grew up in Lagos. His legendary hits include Pour Something and recently Surulere under Mavins Records. He also featured in the reigning hit Dorobucci, a hit number done by his friend and boss, Don Jazzy.
He just recently got married to his girlfriend and long time fiancée Simi Osomo. In this exclusive interview with Potpourri, he talks about his career, music and more:
What have you been up to?
I just got married so I’ve been up to that lately but musically, we’re working on promoting some more singles off the Seduction album. We’re going to be pushing out a few videos in a couple of weeks, for a few songs
You’ve done ‘Baby Tornado’ video, is there going to be another video?
The album has 20 tracks; 18 songs and 2 bonus tracks and we’ve promoted a few songs. Last year, we started with singles before the album came out. Some of the singles were Lady Don Dada, Love Mine and Talented. We also had Baby Tornado and then we had Baby Tornado remix which we just dropped a video for this year. We promoted Surulere and Kilon wa too with videos as well. And then Baby Tornado came out. We have a few more songs like Oyari which features Tiwa Savage, Chop Ogbono and a song called Nwayi Oma which features Emma Nyra
Which video are you shooting next?
I’ve shot a few videos; I’ve shot over four unreleased videos. We’re just waiting to decide when the best time to release them is.
How has your career been so far?
It’s fantastic. Every career has ups and downs and right now, we’re on an upward movement, and we’re very excited about that
Have you done the Seduction tour?
I did the Seduction UK tour in February and we toured a few cities in Nigeria; Benin, Abuja and some other places, but we’re going back on a tour by the end of the year. It’s going to be busy and hectic so there’s not too much time to schedule, we’re booked almost every weekend.
Dr. Sid
Dr. Sid
Is it in Lagos or abroad?
We planned a Euro tour but we had to move it to next year because there’s so much going on in Nigeria at the moment. We got too many bookings to be gone for a long period of time so we pushed the European tour to next year. This year we have two Mavin concerts coming up in Nigeria; one in October and then on December 24th, Christmas Eve in Lagos
Who is your biggest inspiration in music?
I don’t have inspirations; I only have people I respect. I respect what they’ve done with their music and what they‘ve done with their brands. I respect Jay Z, P Diddy, Beyonce and R Kelly. I respect different people for different reasons because there are aspects of their careers and lives that I admire.
The Baby Tornado video, where did you shoot it?
Baby Tornado video was shot in London with the X factor winner Alexandra Burke. It was a very beautiful production, I totally enjoyed it
How did you guys meet?
She’s a very close friend to my wife but apparently, she has been trying to do music with me for a long time and she just happened to ask my wife. Introductions were made and music was created.
It could not have been easy getting Funke Akindele, Helen Paul to be in your Surulere video?
They’re all personal friends of mine. These are people I’ve known for a long time and when I asked them to be part of the video, they were all excited and they all made that video absolutely fantastic. As a matter of fact, I think I need to tweet at them today and just tell them ‘Thank you’ for all the nominations we’re getting
How did you feel getting the MTN ambassadorship?
It’s a beautiful thing for a brand like MTN to recognize that a brand like Dr Sid is strong enough to represent their brand. Obviously, you know that Dr Sid has something to offer and bring something to the table, so I feel very honoured and excited about the possibilities
What is the idea behind Mavin Records?
Mavin Records is a lifestyle brand, it’s a total package.  It’s love, responsibility, passion, it’s everything.   When you say a lifestyle brand, it’s how you live. Mavin stands for anything that is a genius and amazing. Mavin is Dorobucci. It’s a brand that stands for perfection and excellence and that’s what we always try to bring when it comes to the music industry.
Many people want to know the meaning of Dorobucci, what is Dorobucci?
Dorobucci means a person or an individual that is awesome, amazing, rich, swagged-out, sexy and buff. Any word that qualifies greatness, that’s Dorobucci. ‘Bucci’ means anything that is amazing, fun. Doro makes Bucci a person, Doro personifies Bucci so you’re Doro, and I’m Doro. This table is Doro, anything is Doro.
How has marriage life been so far?
Marriage life is beautiful. I’m enjoying it. Can’t you see that I’m glowing and shining all over?
Are you planning honeymoon?
That is something that is personal between me and my wife
What attracted you to your wife?
My wife is beautiful, she’s intelligent and she’s the most amazing human being I’ve ever met

What has been the high point of your career?
It must be being nominated for my first MTV award and performing at the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA). Then winning my first award at Headies and performing alongside some of the biggest international artistes like Jay Z and Beyonce before all those people. So, I guess I pretty much have a lot of high points
How is it like working with Don Jazzy and the whole Mavin crew?
It’s a refreshing experience. There are a bunch of talented people in Mavin Records and we all come together to create beautiful music and it’s a lot of fun. Loads of talents in the room
